A pure, fused aluminum oxide, alloyed with chrome oxide to make it deep pink in color. Although friable and cool cutting, Duralum ® CR3 exhibits marked form-holding characteristics and is more durable than white aluminum oxide.
Duralum ® CR3 is best applied in precision, broad surface, and tool room grinding on hard alloy steels.
A chromium, ruby colored, fused aluminum oxide that is free of titania. It is made by fusing high purity calcined alumina and chromium oxide. It is a friable abrasive, but due to the chromium addition, it is somewhat tougher than white aluminum oxide.
Duralum ® DR has market corner-holding characteristics and is excellent for precision grinding.
Virgin, high purity fused chrome alumina grain. Washington Mills has the ability to vary the Cr2O3 content from 0.1% up to 99+%. Fused, high purity chrome alumina is used in specialty product applications where a high resistance to corrosion is desirable.
Chrome Alumina can be used in gasifiers, incinerators, fiber glass furnaces, and refractory shapes requiring resistance to molten slags and glasses.
