Iron Pyrite , distributed by Washington Mills, is specially prepared from carefully selected pure mono-crystalline iron pyrites (FeS2). The material consists of finely grained Pyrite crystal splinters, which increase the thermal conductivity, the tensile strength, and the porosity of resin-bonded grinding wheels and cut off wheels.
Iron Pyrite is used as an active filler in hot and cold pressed grinding wheels, brake linings, etc. The material improves durability and increases efficiency and is therefore used successfully in the grinding industry. Using Iron Pyrite lowers the pressure and hence the heat variations during the grinding process.
