DURAMET® 16/50
Optimized for flooring applications, DURAMET® 16/50 features physical characteristics ideal for high performance in a metallic flooring aggregate: clean, blocky, non-rusting, tough, and durable.
When incorporated into concrete, DURAMET® 16/50 exhibits high compressive strength and marked resistance to wear. This flooring-specific material also provides numerous advantages over conventional metallic flooring aggregate made of cast iron.
Higher compressive strength
Concrete surfaces made with DURAMET® exhibit higher compressive strength than equivalent concrete surfaces made with conventional metallic aggregate due to DURAMET®’s substantially higher resistance to deformation (modulus of elasticity).
Rust resistance
Unlike conventional metallic aggregate, DURAMET® exhibits marked rust resistance and will remain bright and silvery for years despite exposure to weather.
Relatively inert
Compared to conventional metallic aggregate, DURAMET® is chemically resistant to attack by organic acids such as lactic, citric, and oleic.
Requires no dispersing agent
Due to its blocky shape, DURAMET® trowels readily to a smooth, uniformly dense surface, without the need for dispersing agents.
Blocky shape
DURAMET®’s blocky-shaped particles pack and interlock better than flat, plate-like particles common to conventional metallic aggregate.
Cleanliness
Efficient dust collection during production makes DURAMET® clean and virtually dust free. It bonds tenaciously with concrete.
